Hi
Do the coat kings have a similar effect to hand stripping, also can you buy a video to teach how to strip a westie?

Many thanks
Wendy

You would be far better to watch someone actually strip the dog.  Does the breeder you got your pup from strip their own dogs?  If so arrange to go and see how its done.  Once you know its relatively easy but shouldnt be done by a novice until you are sure of what you are doing.

It has blades that cut the top coat, defeating the object of only removing dead coat.
Grooming videos vary in quality of advice depending on who has made them, but there are some here.

You'd be better to find someone to show you if you want to do a show trim, or get a book from the library if you just want to keep your pet smart and tidy.

Coat kings are quite harsh and as a groomer I don't use them as it will damage the coat.  I have been sent some veru sueful sites which I am quite happy to pass onto you or look at the listing 'Calling all Groomers'.  We have had quite a discussion on Westie's already!

Yes please send me the sites, I would be very interested. Thanks to Val & Neeva for your replies too. Will take a look at the videos and have a look around for any books!!!
