Topic Dog Boards / Showing / unbeaten puppy query
- By bishop [gb] Date 28.09.05 15:27 UTC
just a strange one.....if i entered a puppy in avgundog puppy and it won (therefore being unbeaten)........this would happen if there was only a graduate and open breed class,
then IF there was another puppythat HAD been entered (by someone else) in the graduate class and was made best of breed puppy,
could my puppy also go into the group puppy challenge ?it would seem strange to see two same breed pups in there but i think i recal seeing it somewhere before
cheers

Yes you can. If their is no puppy class in your breed but someone is the only puppy they will win BPIB, and if you win the av puppy class you can also go in for the puppy group. It happened to me at an open show, I had to put my puppy in the graduate class as their was no puppy class, so I won BPIB, but someone else had a Basenji puppy but just put it in av puppy and won, so it meant their was 2 of us in the puppy group.

can you go into  say if there was only an open class for your breed and you where the only puppy in the open class, and you had also entered av puppy could you withdraw from the av puppy class so you became unbeaten and then go into the group at the end.

Yes I think you can, but I would double check that just incase I'm wrong. Hopefully someone will answer that for you.

Yes Pauline, you definately can, it's happened to me. My puppy was BPIB, and somebody else won first in AV Gundog Puppy, and there were two American Cockers in the Puppy group. I had gone in the breed under Bev Morris, and Joyce White had gone in the AV because her puppy had been bred by Bev, and the AV classes were judged by the group judge. Joyce won, I lost.

You must check though, whether the AV classes are to be judged before the group. Occasionally they are, but not often in my experience. Most times it's the AVNSC classes that are judged prior to the group and the AV classes afterwards.
