I HAVE A 9 YEAR OLD BITCH WHO HAS BEEN DIAGNOSED WITH THE COMPLAINT EOSINOPHILIC ENTRIC SHE WAS OPENED UP HAD EVERY TEST POSSIBLE BY OUR VET COSTING SEVERAL HUNDRED POUNDS.SHE HAS STILL GOT CONTINOUS RUNS AND DRINKING LOTS OF WATER AND SHE HAS LOST WEIGHT,BUT SHE IS EATING,PLAYING AND IS HER NORMAL SELF.IM FEEDING HER ON DRIED DUCK AND BOILED RICE AT PRESENT.HAVE TRIED FRESH CHICKEN AND BOILED RICE,DRIED CHICKEN AND RICE,BUT THE RUNS CONTINUE HAS ANYONE GOT ANY SUGGESTIONS THAT I COULD TRY.THE PROBLEM HAS NOW BEEN GOING ON FOR 10 WEEKS.
ANY HELP WOULD BE APPRECIATED.

Hi Gloria, this is a form of IBD (Inflammatory Bowel Disease).  Try this LINK it has helpful information on management and diet and also a dedicated Group which you can join and share experiences and gain info from members world wide with dogs suffering the same specific problems.

In the meantime I'd change away from rice - grains often exacerbate the problem, commonly rice.  Also duck is very fatty - perhaps try and find an alternative novel protein (something your girl has never eaten before) perhaps rabbit, venison or salmon.

You don't mention meds - if none are currently being taken, speak to your vet about something to sooth the gut tract and increase absorbtion plus using an initial high dosage cortico-steroid to reduce the inflammation.  Good luck and best wishes, Teri

Should have mentioned a good alternative to rice is mashed potato (no added milk/butter/salt etc) or baked yams
