Firstly I would like to thank Sauceboat for the advice on exercising my five mth old boxer Nellie, We have cut down to every other day now and she has already put 2kg on in weight. She was having a problem eating all her food but ive started adding scrambled egg for breakfast and sardines at lunch and then raw tripe or mince for dinner. I have decided to start introducing the Barf diet but at the moment am struggling to find anywhere to supply it all the butchers I have rang get there meat prepacked now and the chicken farm I rang said he does not supply to the public and if he did I would have to buy it in 30lb boxes! I dont have the freezer storage for that amount. I live in Nottingham so if anyone does have any contacts in this area it would be greatly appreciated and also I could use any tips anyone has or uses for the Barf diet.
Many Thanks
Sam and Nellie x

Sammi,
I feed my 2 BARF also and have joined a few groups. I have been buying chicken wings from ASDA tray of 900grms =2 lb £1.24 each tray. Just yesterday I went into my local butcher as I never get to town very often and asked if you would give me the chicken carcasses he said no problems he would stick them in 20lb bags for me free of charge. So keep trying their must be a few butchers around. One of my freinds gets them for 5 pence per pound. Which means it only costs her between 5p and 10p to feed her dog everyday and it is good fresh food.
If you are interested e-mail me and I iwll forward some more links to you and the group addys you may find people nearer to you.
Chicken wings are the baet ratio of meat and bone.
my 2 dogs are really doing well on it. My pup has been on it since 8 weeks. Even my cat is on it now.
I have a few freinds that have just made the change over and a couple who are just starting this week..
Good luck
Pam

Hello Sammi,
We have a four month old Boxer bitch. She has been 'barfed', since our breeder weened her and have continued with it. Chicken wings are fantastic. We get them from our local butcher, or Tescos if we run out and they are closed, etc. She eats scrambled egg for breakfast, as well.
People think were a bit strange when we say we feed her raw bones and the lot...but I want her to have the best, healthiest, least processed food I can, and it is economical. She does have some eukanuba puppy complete available to her during the day...but it's all about those wings!!
Hooray for BARF Boxers!

Hi Megbel,
Can't remeber if we have discussed this or not. My boxer was always funny with her food she would eat and then run around and throw it back up. I used to worry sick. I tried every food on the market etc and she was quite thin.
I put her onto BARF and she stopped throwing her food up with in 7 days and she has never since.
My vet was gob smack but I knew he believed it was her diet also.
Good luck with yours.
Pam
