Im hopefully going to start showing Eva soon, i was just wondering if your allowed to use toys in a show ring she has a little cats mouse that she loves and i can really get her attention with it alot more so than i can with food. Is it concidered not to be done incase it distracts other dogs??

Hi,
As long as you're not throwing the toy around the ring or dropping it in front of other dogs, and as long as it doesn't squeek then yes, use toys :) I have a ratty for my Pharaoh for when she gets bored in the ring :D
Cheers

As debs has said. I use a little furry mouse thing to get some dogs attention when they get bored of the food, Just don't let it distract any other dogs and it's the same as using food! :)

talk about food and distracting - try telling that to boxer handlers! What about the huge chunks of liver that get thrown across the ring - try showing a beagle in the ring next door - IMPOSSIBLE!

Try having a setter in a ring after boxers

wasn't good :( Thing is I never threw bait for boxers when I showed them!!!

Doesn't squeak? Try a Cavalier ring - squeaks, silly voices, jumping around and even singing going on all round you! :-D

LOLOLOLOL you must have been watching me ;)
Thanks everyone :)
Her toy rattled but doesnt squeak its quite small shes only allowed it when im with her as its so small incase she chokes. I took its eyes, tail, ears and nose off aswel lol.

My friend once got my dog wagging (no easy task!) by singing 'Lucy's wet her knickers' at him!!!! She told me to try that at the next show, but my dad was standing right by the ringside and I just couldn't!! Anyway, things that make him wag only work 2 or 3 times, then he gets bored of them!

LOLOL I just say to the boys "Where's Abbie"(shes the GSD)that gets their tails going ;)
