Hi Guys

My friend has a 11 month old Black Lab which until recently had no problems at all.  Over the past 6 weeks he has been itching and now has blad patches on backs of his paw where he has been nibbling at it.  his stomache is also rather scabby.  The vet suggested that it could be wheat bugs as they live in the country, they have sprayed him with the vets perscription and that hasnt worked.  He spent two weeks at a friends house while they where on holiday and the itching was greatly reduced, however now he is back it is getting worse again.  the itching seems to get worse the more the dog is excited.  Can anyone help or has anyone had similar problems in the past?

My Yankee started chewing his paws at about 8 months old. My friend suggested his dry food was too high in protein and we switched him onto mixer and pouches and stopped him chewing them when we saw him. He seems to have been mostly ok since then - hope he doesn't revert now we're switching to JWB!
