I went to have my Akita spayed last week. Only to be told to fetch her back in 2 weeks as she was having a phantom. What am I to expect from this. The vet told me if he was to spay her at that time she would have phantoms all the time why is this. She as never had a phantom before and neither as any of my other dogs.
Thanks for any replys

Im sorry but i cant do too much to help as i have never experienced it with any of my dogs before. It usually passes quite quickly she just gets a bit over protective with certain objects that she thinks are babies.. but dont quote me on that. My brothers staffie has had 3 phantoms and i go over there alot. they seem to pass quite quickly but again i am sorry for not helping much. Just wait until its over and get her spayed another time. No big deal?

Hi,
Not an expert, but in your position I'd be prepared to go back a few times before the phantom is over ;) they can go on much longer than two weeks  It all depends on when she had her season and how bad a phantom it is :( I would definately wait until she's over the phantom tho, it will be so much better for her.
Hope this helps
Regards
Dill
Not sure how long its been going on. The vet said she was full of milk. But over the last year she as always been a little saggy in that area. I just thought it was her age so never gave it a secong thought when she got a bit bigger. Shes not really protective but is very affectionatte and craves attention. Her last seasion was JUne.
