I've always found Crufts is great for spectators but awful for exhibitors. Too crowded and the dogs are not a priority. This coming from someone who's exhibited there for years and judged there! lol

Sorry but no, you can't take an unentered dog. Just go along and have fun without worrying about whether your dog is scared by the crowds or having his paws trodden on, that's my advice. Thinking of going 2 days next year - one day to exhibit and sit by the crate, and one day to look round!!
JuneH, you can't just enter your dog normally either. It has to have qualified to be able to enter. Unless you have a KC registered dog and want to do the Discover Dog duty for a while :)

Wow! I thought that Crufts was just about showing the perfect dog so I hadnt even considered entering my little scruffy westie but if there are different events ?discover dog then where can I find out all about it? A pity its in Birmingham not a day trip for me unfortunatley.

There is a Discover Dog section at Crufts where you can meet dogs from just about every breed there is. There's also a 2 days event called Discover Dogs in London in November, where again you can see all the different breeds, and there are trade stands and Rare British Breed parades and so on. Both well worth a visit! :-)

Lucy I did 4 days this year and didn't get to look round whole of it :( OK I did have something on each day but still only one day where I sat with dogs!

I went for two days last year and LOVED it. I have no show dogs. But went on pastural (For my mum) and Gundog days and it was wonderful :D Although I would suggest go on a thursday or friday. Saturday was too many people that want a day out that know NOTHING about dog and were not as considerate around dogs ;) Where as thurs and frid they are dog lovers only (sorry if this upsets anyone but it is what i found)
Lea :)
Gundog day is on Sunday next year, that's bound to be busy. I hate busy places :(
I like to just settle down by a ring (Tollers :) )and watch. Too many people to do much else!
The atmosphere there really isn't good for dogs though, I know my dog couldn't cope. I could be showing there in the future... don't know whether to look forward to it or dread it!

Bekki next year it will be saturady I settle on the red and white's benches! I don't even get to see the ring unless I'm in it. I have qualified dads boy who I would really love to show at crufts but I'm unsure about how he will cope with atmosphere. our other 3 are fine and take it in their stride but not sure how this one will act. It's tempting, if I'm driving to take him, show him (veteran dog, 1st class) and go home using a spare dog and handler pass we normally have! He would love it in the ring "crowed pleaser" or "show off" has been in his critques before!
Ahhh we shall see shan't we!!! :) I still have christmas to think about first!!!! :D

june, judging by the current KC policy of going against the wishes of all breders & exhibitors at every opportunity, :(then i am sure it wont be too long before the public can take their dogs to walk around crufts:)

Sam if that is the case then there will be loads of public dogs walking round with free entarance and no-one entering!!!!! Crufts is the one show that get's busy enough without the average family pet! :)
Well the trade fair...I mean stands... will do well...
ive never been :( ,were hoping to go next yr :) .
stupid question lol. but were is it and do you pay to go to crufts? & can you tae your dog?

We went this year for the first time and had a ball. Didn't get to see all the things I wanted to though, so am planning on going next year. When do the tickets go on sale?

I think tickets are on sale...sure I had something though few weeks ago letting me order my tickets...

Mini meg you can purchase tickets on website, by phone, by post or on the day.
It is held in Birmingham at the NEC and you cannot take your dog unless enterd into an event
I've been a few times and am definately going again next year. Its a great day out for any dog lovers.

I'm so jealous as I can't go next year cause my puppy won't be qaulified in time and I can't take his mum as I can't leave him behind at home. I won't be able to enter the following year either as my mum is judging, so unfair!
