I am hoping to buy a Shih Tzu puppy for my son in January 2006. Anyone out there likely to have one available? I live in Rutland and was hoping to get one in the area?

Do YOU want one??????? I am presuming your son is pre 18 years old and it will live with you
My son wants a Pug. I have told him he has to save up half the cost..... £500. he is up to about £35 so far. he has wanted one for about 8 months and set up the pug fund. and saved any money he has. if he still is adamant for one once my old dog goes( I hope not soon) then i will get him one then. but that will be at least 3 years after first asking for one. And even then i will take responsible for it. And if my son goes away to uni etc then i will take full responsibity for it. My son is 10. And I already have a 2 dogs. And my son knows all of this as i have explained it all to him. And he knows that until Gemma has gone he cannot have a pug (Gemma couldnt cope with a puppy)
if he is post 18 then does he really want one. If so it would be better for him to choose himself??????
Sorry these are questions you need to ask yourself before looking for a puppy.

Hi Val, I have a Shih Tzu and 2 young Children (4 and 6) the dog is great with the children and just the right size for them, but ultimatly I am the one who looks after him. I don't know how much you know about Shih Tzus but they do need daily grooming and regular trims (as often as every 6 weeks) if keeping in a short style, which can cost £25 a time, aswell as all the usual and unexpected vets bills.

If you are looking for a breeder it is well worth having a look at

good luck
