I know you will love this story.  Our local news has been carrying the story of a young woman and her chichuahua who were in a bad car accident.  The car was badly smashed and when the woman came to, as rescue workers tended to her by the roadside, she was told her little dog was fine.  In truth, her little doggy, Asia, was nowhere to be seen.

The story was put on the evening news with the request that anyone seeing the little dog report it to the OPP (Ontario Provincial Police).  The accident was in Muskoka, a vast area of muskeg, rocks, trees, thick bush, few roads and big wildlife like coyotes and even bears.  It sure didn't look good for such a little, probably terrified, dog.  But six days later an off duty OPP officer spotted her, called her to him and she has been reunited with her happy owner.  Asia is fine but her owner is still all bandaged up and may face surgery on her spine.  Nevertheless, you can imagine how happy she is to have her little Asia back.

and a nice timely reminder that all dogs should be secured when travelling.  You wouldn't leave your baby loose on the back seat, so why do it with your dog?  You can get an assortement of cages to suit each car and would protect agains possible events like this.

Glad it's a happy ending!

This is incredible, another happy ending.  A local family went to great trouble to get a specially trained service dog, a border terrier, for their autistic son.  As dogs are wont to do once in a while, she got out, took off down the street and someone reported seeing a van stop and pick her up.  The family was devastated and since so many people were involved in helping them obtain the dog, who came from the U.S., it doesn't affect just the one family.  Tonight she is back with her family, after three days I think, absence.  There was no word given, on the news tonight, on how this came to be.  But son and pooch are awfully happy.  The mother said the dog slept with her son right through her first night back, which is something she has not done before.

It is so nice to have these two good stories with happy endings.
