i got a flyer from the local wharehouse(business customers thing) and saw fireworks for sale in there :( :(
Knew then that the TV will have to go up, and will have to feed dogs before dark and bring them in and not let them out again till final wee before bedtime :(
Roll on ban on firworks unless on organised displays.
Lea :(
And why are they allowed to be sold still :( Personally I think they should only be sold to people who are organising an event and who have got a proper licence to show this.
I have nothing against them - in the right place at the right time - but last year they drove my springer mad (working strain) *every* time one went off he ran around the house and garden looking for the blooming pheasant and then started barking when he couldn't find it ! :) This year we have a young boxer pup and I dread to think what he is going to make of them all - my springer cross just sleeps the night away as he is an old hand at all this know (bless him only 3 1/2 but acts like he's old) so I'm hoping the boxer will too, only time will tell.
Hi boxermum my youngest boxer is just 15mths old and last year he didnt bat a eye. none of the others really bother. but tonight the pup jumped out of his skin poor baby causing the others to wonder what was going on, just turned the tv up grr.
Give him a hug from me and Dylan - I'm not looking forward to it all, very quiet in our village at the moment but I know that it won't last long - one thing that annoys me is our grumpy, miserable, gonna make you pay for everything tom cat spends fireworks night indoors with us, glaring at us as if it's our fault

grumpy old sod :D
I think I must have the thickest dogs in the country as they are not bothered by fireworks or thunderstorms.

For those of you with young dogs/pups NOW IS THE TIME FOR A CLICKER :D :D Every time you hear a firework click and treat (after training the pup to the clicker of course ;) ) soon your pup will associate the sound of Fireworks with a treat and you can relax knowing pup isn't going to be scared :D I've done this with all my dogs and it's worked every time :) :)
Poor springer, its hard to explain to them that there's no bird isn't it :(
LOL @TTS, our dogs are in the slightest bit bothered by fireworks or storm either, and as we actually all gather at the window to watch a good storm the dogs all do to, looking a bit bemused at their sill owners :D I think we are very lucky as I have known people who've had dogs that try and climb up chimneys etc at the meerest squeak of a firework :(
