Does anyone know where I can get gentle ear cleaner in big bottles?  I've been using Shirley's, but it makes my dogs' ears itch for a few days after cleaning.  Plus, being a groomer, the teeny bottles aren't value enough for money!

If you want something really gentle and cheep try almond oil, or even olive oil, it will loosen the dirt etc very unlikley that your dog is alergic to it and you cna buy it in big bottles from any good supermarket :D

Some dogs can have a reaction to Thornit. I used it for several years and it was brilliant, but when the old lady stopped making it and somebody else took over, it started making their ears red and itchy and I had to use something else.

The almond oil sounds a good idea - never thought of that before but I could see why it would work effectively.

Thornit gets my vote.  I've recommended it to two people who had ongoing ear problems in their dogs, which had proven very costly, only to have no problems once they used Thornit.

If you can't use Thornit the Leo Dog Ear Cleaner is brilliant, it even gets rid of the difficult dried wax and is really gentle on the ears, no greasy fur either ;)  the Canine Chemist stocks it and you can buy it online.
