how did you all get your pup to settle at night and only cry to go to toilet?
I dont want to take pup upstairs, iwant to start as i mean to go on...
The same goes for when i leave pup alone in day occasionally?

First of all I took two weeks off work to settle the pup in.
Secondly, I expected the fact that I was bringing home a baby that was being taken away from everything and everyone it knows and coming int o a strange place with new smells therefore it needed love and reassurance.
Having a pup is hard work. Firstly, have you got a crate for the pup? I would suggest you get one. This then becomes your pups bed and safe area. Ater making the crate comfortable for the pup, leave the door open and let him explore it in his own time. Put treats in there for him. The idea is that the crate is a lovely, safe place to be.
Secondly routine. A puppy needs to be let out on a regular basis and sometimes in the middle of the night.  Personally if you don't want the dog upstairs, then you may have to consider sleeping downstairs with for a few days. If you get a crate, get a blanket to put over it. If the pup cries, reassure them. Eventually the pup will settle thinking you are there and you can finally sneak off to your own bed. This should only take a few days in most cases.
Stick to a routine regards meals, toilet training etc.
In terms of going out in the day you need to build this up, only being away short amounts of time and building up to longer periods.
