Topic Dog Boards / Visitors Questions / persistent spraying all over the house

We have a very beautiful Cavalier King Charles male who is just over 3 years old.  We bought him in May and, rather unfortunately, he is causing us (me inparticular) a lot of problems with his persistent spraying and urinating throughout the house.  He knows it is wrong but we do not know how, if at all, we can cure him of this.  Can anyone help please

We have tried all sorts of things including sprays and, short of rubbing his nose in it (which we know is cruel and does not work), we really are at a loss.

email to andrew90@andrew90.karoo.co.uk

thank you

It all hinges on finding out WHY he's doing this.  If it's a stress related thing (marking territory due to unease/feeling that he has to be guarding the place for some reason) then you may find a DAP plugin (Dog Appeasing Pheremone) will work.  This works like an air freshener that plugs into your wall socket and releases pheremones to make the dog feel at ease.  It is NOT a drug. I had the same problem with one of my male dogs and it worked beautifully, but like I said you need to find out why he's doing it in the first place.

Good luck,

Debs

Has he been checked by a vet for a urinary infection?  What do you use to clean up afterwards?
