I think i may have put my self across wrong i have @ never had any intention of delibrately breeding my dogs . All it was my girl came into her 2nd session @ iwas told a 6 month old was 2 young 2 get her preg so i started 2 panick when i found out differant. Ithought if it was healthy 4 my girl 2 keep them she could but since we have been in touch with every 1 here we have changed our vet @ booked her in with a new surgery 4 the mate injetion.I would never of left them 2 gether if we thought he was of age 2 get her preg. She may not even be preg but we can not take the risk. My old vet i spoke 2 be 4 i changed this morning even said it was 2 early 4 him 2 get her preg as it has only been 1 week in 2 her session.Sounds like they are not avery good practice all round when it comes 2 breeding. Anyway as soon as this is all sorted @ she is ready we will get her spad @ him nueted not sure how old he has 2 be though?.Hope this sort of clears up what i ment @ i am certaily not besoted with breeding my dogs as some 1 suggested, only a lot of bad info from my own vet @ some friends.thanks 4 being so blunt.

OK Tracey, I think I get your message - you are going to a new vet she is going to have the post-mating injection right? And then she will be neutered 6 weeks later - have I got this right?
Your boy is still a baby (even though he is capable of fathering a litter) and it may be better to wait until he is just over the year before having him done - but listen to your vet here - if he does appear to be fully mature (and from what I understand, boxers can mature physically early, although they are still puppies in their heads ;) ) he may recommend neutering earlier.
Just be aware that if she does have the post-mating injection, then she may come into season again in a couple of weeks or so - it might be best if you book your boy into kennels during that time.
Glad that you have taken in all the advice you have received here.
Regards Margot
Thanks 4 advice deffanently will keep them apart in future until 1 of them can be sorted 1st do u now how long after she has jab till she has spad or does it all depend .tray.

Not worth taking a risk - you're doing the right thing with the anti-mate injection. Bitches can actually be ovulating at 7 days and get pregnant thatearly in their season, plus semen can remain alive in the bitch for 3 days or more! And it's definitely not unheard of for dogs as young as 6 months to get bitches pregnant. And do you know that a neutered male can carry on producing viable sperm for up to 3 months afterwards? Where there's a will there's a way, as they say!
Glad to hear things were a misunderstanding and that you are being a responsible pet owner.
