You had a dachshund owner in 2002 - herbiedax - talking about her miniature wired haired dachshund's back problems.  What was the outcome?  I also have one who is going through the same thing.  He is now paralysed from the waist down and I don't know what to do next.

Hi Penny thats so sad i have seen on the tv that dachshunds can suffer with their back, if you join you can do a search and then you should be able to find the post you were looking for.

Hi Penny
I also have dachshunds, and two of my three have had back problems in their lives :(
There are options for treatment, including surgery or sometimes the conservative treatments are recommended.  If you choose to go the surgery route, follow any directions given by the surgeon. (Mine have both recovered with only conservative treatment, so I have no experience with surgery)
The most important thing is TOTAL crate rest, only being carried outside to toilet.
Feel free to email me if you would like more info ( minicoop@bigpond.net.au )
