how did you all get your pup to settle at night and only cry to go to toilet?
I dont want to take pup upstairs, iwant to start as i mean to go on...
The same goes for when i leave pup alone in day occasionally?
Cheers  magx

When I fetched my new puppy home she slept through the first night. 2nd night she howled and we got up to her to take her out. 3rd night she howled a bit and did the same, after that we never heard her through the night. I am a heavy sleeper and never heard her, my son who isn't said he never heard her either, and now she sleeps through, and is dry, mind you she is 19 weeks old now and i do take her out last thing at night to do her busness, before crating her for the night.

I have just posted something about puppies first night at home under the topic ''Crates and first night?'', its about half way down the page and is something we found worked a treat with our latest pup.
Hopes it of some help to you, and your impending arrival :)

We heard/read that a hot water bottle and an old alarm clock simulate the warmth and heartbeat of missing litter mates.  We wrapped both up in an old blanket and left it with puppy.  She slept all night and never needed out even at 7and a half weeks old.  No way to tell if she would have anyway but it made us feel good.
