Hi Guys,

Deon my 13 month old rottweiler has taken a shine to eating a full sunday dinner, and drinking cups of tea! i was just wondering if this will cause any health problems for him?

Dunno about the diner but tea has caffine in it so Im assuming that it isnt too good for dogs? Someone more experienced will soon tell you :)

Only if you let him get fat, and he has bad table manners :D

If you give him a full sunday dinner in ADDITION to his regular diet, then obviously he will probably put on weight.

Tea contains caffeine, milk contains lactose which dogs may find difficult to metabolize (milk sugar) and of course if you have sugar in your tea this is empty calories that may put on weight and/or may cause yeast overgrowths.

Dogs will generally consume most things, whether or not it is advisable in the long run is debatable and entirely up to you.

Ahh a little bit of what you like now and then never hurts, so long as its only an occasional treat it will be fine.

Probably diarreah , i would put him on bland if it persists , immodium/pepto always solves the diarreah problems for me!

one of my customers have given their Lab a couple of weak cup of teas a day since she was a pup. She is 10 years old now. They put milk in her bowl and give her the rest of the pot, EVERY time they make Tea!!!!!!!!!! So cant see Tea doing dogs any harm seeing as she is 10, with hip artheritis but still acts liuke a puppy!!!!
lea :)

So far my dogs have lived to ripe old ages with regular cups of tea and coffee. (Milk and two sugars please, stolen preferred!)

I had a cup of coffee on my end table and when I would get up and come back I noticed my cup was usual wet and a lil less in it. Never gave it much of a thought.... To my surprise one day my daughter told me the minute I left she caught T-bone having a drink and the minute she heard me coming back she stopped... She told her off, but now I know why... Eeeeeeeeeew  nothing like sharing the morning cup with your dog in the morning :D.... I know longer drink coffee only sometimes, not because of her..... Sorry that just brought back a memory :) and had to share lol
