i have a 13month gsd at the moment she is fed twice a day i just wanted to no at what age should i change this to once a day

Many people continue to feed twice a day through adult hood, if it suits you and your dog, why change?  Also, smaller meals may be less of a risk to a dog with a pre disposition to bloat, such as the GSD...

If she eats twice a day, then i would leave it at that,24 hours is along time to go without food. Are your other dogs GSD's aswell?

I feed my dogs twice a day. One third of their food in the morning and the remaining 2 thirds in the evening. Kind Regards Clare

I would stick to the 2 meals a day. How would you like to go all day with no food if fed in the evening, or if fed one large meal in the morning, have a very full tum for most of the day?

Hi,
I would feed them twice a day I do my adults, the puppy is feed more often but leaves
some in her bowl. In my opinion, it stops the dogs getting greedy. Not one off mine is!

Just to add my two pence worth........I used to feed my Shepherds twice a day, although I must say it didn't stop them being greedy, that depended on the individual dog, my boys were bigger pigs than the girls :D But as has been mentioned here, I did it because it's an awful long time to go, 24 hrs without food.......I wouldn't like it. And the main reason.........bloat.

I still have large dogs, although different breed to Shepherds and they are always fed twice a day for the same reasons ;)

If your other two dogs see one dog getting something and they are getting nothing you may well find they have a sudden interest in eating.

If your dogs usually do not eat all the food in their dish then give them less food - problem solved.  :-)  Unless you can easily see their ribs their weight is good and they're eating everything they require.  Ask your vet about their weight if you are concerned.
