Does anyone sponsor a child - abroad you know through agencies or through the church or through private missions?

Could you let me know of a good repuable agency for this - preferably one where the money goes for the child not the organisation/church

We sponsor a child through World Vision (www.worldvision.org.uk).  You get allocated a particular child who you can write to and send a gift at Christmas.  The money helps the whole community that the child belongs to rather than just that child, which means that real lifestyle changes can take place.

Karen if you pm me your email address I can forward you an email I got from the BBC after watching a programme on African Schools.  I was quite moved by the programme and emailed them to see how we could help.

I am ashamed to say that I haven't done anything further but your post has bought this to the front of my mind and I will put something into action this week.
