Topic Dog Boards / Visitors Questions / Leather Sofa HELP!

Hi all

Hoping you can help, we have recently bought a leather sofa, hubby has gone home today to see Tally (2yr old Vizsla) and apparently she has done a bit of damage! and scratched one of the cushions quite badly.  we cleaned it yesterday with the cleansing solution as it had a few little scratches on - which we assumed would go with the cleanser, but they didnt..! the sofa is pretty hardy leather, the manufacturers say that a warm finger over any scratches should get rid of them? anyway..now she has done more damage.  seems a bit odd as she isnt destructive!..anyway...has anyone got any recommendations on what we can put on the sofa that may get rid of the scratches a little, it is one of those sofas that is supposed to look better with scratches etc..thinking some kind of wax or cream...anything!
Thanks Kellie ( I used to be a member but lost my log in details aahh!!)

The only way to get scratches out of leather is to "bone" it this is using some sort of warm wax and rubbed around and around.
Do not know how itis done properly but the army ment do it to their boots.
I have never been able to get scratches out of horse tack and I am afraid.

The best stuff I've ever found I got from Crufts about 8 years ago. It's called Renapur leather balsam and they do have a website if you stick renapur into a search engine.

It can be used on sofas, though I've never tried it that way. But what it can do to scuffed leather shoes and handbags has to be seen to be believed. I've contemplated trying it on my face if it's that good on shoes - he-he! It's £10 a pot (they reckon it will do 20 sofas) and well worth it as I don't think I've used more than a third of the pot in all that time and it's the only thing I ever clean my shoes with.

I agree, it is great stuff.  It took out scuffs from my leather sofa and is brilliant on bringing shoes back to life.

Didn't know what is was called, just went and had a look and it is the same.
