hello :o)

I'm desperately trying to find my dogs breeder. KAWACADO is the kennel name. The reason being, that i am desperate to breed my Bitch (Kawacado Magical Secret) and i've lost the Breeders contact details and have not been able to find them to contact her. I'm looking for advice on how to keep the Breedlines going, and who would make the best Stud for her. I'm not looking to show any of her pups, nor am i doing it for financial gain, i'm doing it because time is running out for her to become a mum and she hasn't had a litter yet. I wanted to give her that chance of being a mum and having a litter before she really is too old :o( but i just didnt want to breed her with just any Stud. She has such a fantastic pedigree, i wanted to keep that going, as she is a fantastic family pet and great with my toddling disabled daughter and the rest of my children. I'd just want to hope her pups would be the same and by finding the right stud might encourage that ?
I have not got a clue about breeding and how to go about this. Any help about this, and/or the whereabouts of KAWACADO will be gratefully appreciated :o)

Many thanks
Jessie's Mum :o)

First things first, why don't you join, then you can ask as many questions (and respond to our questions) as often as you like.

Second, you don't tell us what breed you have :)

Thirdly, whilst we are trying to help you with finding details of your breeder, read the first posts on the breeding section here - it's not all plain sailing :(

You are going about things the right way - asking questions first - so please don't mind ours - we need to know what you need to know from us!

Regards

Margot.

Hi Kerry.  Your Westie sounds delightful and a very important part of your family.  5 years old is too late to have a first litter, and as you say that you don't have a clue about breeding, you would certainly be putting her at risk, which would a disaster your you and your family.
Do read the first post on the breeding board, and here's another link for you http://st15.startlogic.com/~justonel/index.html

The kennel who bred your bitch are successful Westie breeders and will have already continued your bitch's line if they thought that it was good enough.

Love her for what she is, a brilliant family pet, and if you want another, go back to the breeder who did such a good job in breeding her.:)

thanks Val,
not quite the answer i was hoping to get, but thanks for pointing out the risks to jessie's health & wellbeing. i'll have to continue my search for the breeder, as they seemed to have vanished off the face of the earth (or maybe i'm not looking in the right places?).

inbetween posting, i did manage to get onto the breeding board and have a look and its really interesting.

Thanks for getting back to me with such a lovely reply

All I can come up with is the name Miss Davis and lots of show results!!  Maybe if you contact one of the Westie Breed Clubs, they may be able to put you in touch with Miss Davis??

Val, Thank you so much for your help, thats a lot more than i could come up with (i knew i was looking in the wrong places) ... i know this is going to seem cheeky, but is there any chance you could point me in the direction of the westie breed clubs ?

your help and advice so far has been really appreciated ... i actually came offline after reading your message and cried as i felt so sad that jessie would prob never become a mum .. but also with the hope that yeah, i could always get another pup ... if i could manage to track the breeder down!

once again, thanks for your help

best regards

Kerry, I didn't mean to upset you. :(  But I would be upset if I'd encouraged you to breed with no knowledge and then Jessie hit problems..............  Some new breeders are very lucky and others (even some with experience) have disasters and I felt by your post that Jessie was too special for you to put her at risk.:)

Here are details of some Westie clubs/  They should be able to help you track down Miss Davis.

Hi Kerry

Im glad that that you took my advice and joined us - it becomes very addictive, though!

Although you might feel upset that Jess should never be a mum, at least you have sought advice at the right time, and haven't bred from her, and then maybe risked losing her!

Good luck with finding another pup from her line - we did this with out beloved Purdey - she was a black lab, and to us, the only colour for a lab is black, and when she did have a litter, we had no black bitches :(    So we went back to her breeder, and got one of her nieces - sadly she died in an accident when she was almost 2, but before Purdey died, we found the line again, and managed to get a great-great niece!
