Can anyone recommend a good reliable fairly cheap courier service?   I have seen something for sale on eBay but it's very heavy and a long way down south, so I'd need someone to collect it for me and I was advised to try a courier service.    Has anyone used one before and can help me?

Thanks.

Christine, Your best bet is to find a company local to you that regually goes to that area of the south. Removal companies are often a good bet especially if there is no real hurry as they are often comming back with an empty van and anything that can help pay the petrol, so long as it inst too much hassle. You may have to pick it up from their depot but my sister got 3 pieces of furnature taken from south London to Aberdeen for £35 a few years ago, because she found a haulier that specilised in taking stuff from Aberdeen to London.

Hi Christine,

We have sold a few large items on eBay, we always use www.senditquick.co.uk they charge £9.99 for a two day delivery anywhere in the UK, up to either 30 or 35 kg (can't remember off the top of my head!) We have found this to be the cheapest, and they actually use Parcel Force so it is fairly reliable, we have never had any problems with them :D

I think I saw somewhere that there is an office equipment company - beginning with S - Staples, Sharps something like that and if they have a branch near you and you can get the object on the counter that their delivery charges are reasonable

I also found this when I was looking for something else

Thanks everyone, turns out the cage I'd been looking will be slightly too big for the Doblo which is a pity as it's a great size to stick 2-3 smelly Munsters in!    Asti - bless her - is 14 & half so that qualifies her for the back seats!

But these are useful contacts to keep!  :D
