I have heard that this breed don't malt very much and therefore are ideal as pets for those that may suffer a little with allergies (more cat than dog)... is this right.  What sort of price can you expect to pay for one?

That's right- but neither do Kerry Blue Terriers. I had a KB in the past and he was a great dog- they're normally real characters.

I think SCWT's are similar, tho I've never owned one.

Wheatens have a single coat so moulting is not such a problem, although they do shed hairs.  Their coats tangle very easily so daily combing is adviseable.
But having owned a wheaten I would suggest that you  consider other factors as well.  They are beautiful dogs but not the ideal breed for everyone.  Let's just say they can be a bit of a handful :)

I probably should have said that Kerries are also " a bit of a handful ", particulary since they're quite keen on a scrap- but a better dog with children I've yet to meet.

I think that Wheatens and Kerries are probably the same dog underneath but a different colour and coat length

Regards
