Our puppy is displaying a strange side affect of training. When I get home at night after work she comes and says hello but the last couple of nights she has heard me come in rushed down the garden run back into the house before saying hello. Last night I suddenly clicked why: normally I go to work on my bike and to discourage her from jumping all over visitors I don't say hello till I've put the bike away and I am ready. The last couple of days I've used the car for work so the routine is slightly different but she hasn't realised so before she will say hello to me she runs down to the garage to check my bike has been put away :-)
Anyone else get these strange side affects?

LOL Who is training who??? I tend to try and set up a routine with a new pup and our latest has taken it to extreams and is not subtle in telling us that it is time to eat/walk/go to bed

When I drag the teapot a couple of inches across the worktop my dog jumps to attention, ears forward in expectation and then as I take the lid off the teapot the inevitable chink sends her off towards the garden yelping excitedly. I can't for the life of me work out how I've conditioned her this way, something obviously very good happened one day when I was about to make tea but it must have gone over my head. This happens every single time I make tea whatever the time of day or night. Still she wouldn't fit in this family if she wasn't a bit loopy!
It must be the anticipation of biscuits to go with tea :D Mine drool like mad when they hear the toaster go down, in anticipation of a corner of my toast.
You cant open fridge or freezers in my house without kai being there in a split second bounding like zebedee.... :D
Meg usually goes mad when i change my trousers, because i usually do that before a walk! Obviously i have to put trousers on at other times and she will come and sniff them and decide what they are for!! If for example they are my jodhpurs she will give a huffy sniff and go and lay on my bed!!

Mine are the same in a morning. I get up have coffee. greet the dogs, open the door let them in the garden. Peace reigns just a gentle wagging of tails and tummy rub requests. Go for a shower, dogs pacing in hall, get dressed (trousers - skirt doesn't get their interest), dogs running in and out of garden furious tail wagging and bounding up and down step - go into study (where leads are kept) mahyem!
If I want do do my emails before going out, sometimes they are important, I have to do them before showering and dressing.
My dog pricks her ears if I say "right" and then watches me intently.
If I proceed to get up, she'll get up too with her tail wagging and expecting a walk!
She does the same if I brush my hair! Anyone'd think I only brush my hair before I go out...
