hi my 8 week old puppy has just been sick 5 times, it was lumps of food, whole still, very gooey, he's got a tendancy to eat loads of grass but has been doing this since we got him, he's had a case of slight diorreah about 3/4 hr ago. he's whining and isnt taking much notice of his water. ive been reading links on sickness etc and now at my wits end as alot of them mention parvo or whatever it is. he's had no injections yet. can someone please tell me if this is anything to worry about?
I would seriously get the pup to the vet asap! It could be a number of factors why the pup is being sick( worms, sudden change of food, food intolerance), but as this young age I wouldn't want to speculate what it might be. Get a professional opinion and go see your vet! Kind regards, Clare
thankyou will go first thing tomorrow, very worried now he's still whining
hi again thought i'd best mention he ate a few frozen carrots that fell on my floor out my freezer would this make his tummy upset? also yesterday i saw him chewing up a slug. i have no slug pellets in my garden so i know it cant be slug pellets but are slugs not good? he's settled down now and is sleeping. shall i leave it for 24 hrs before i feed him again? sorry for all the questions but im quite anxious. thanks again

Hope he improves and the vet sorts him out - let us know how it goes! Make sure he drinks even if you have to coax him or dribble it into him with your fingers.

Slugs carry parasites, don't let him eat them :( I have a dog who used to eat slugs and snails, now I have to go into the garden with her at night so she doesn't get the chance to pick them up.
How is he doing today. My 11 year old just had this and had to take him to the emergency vet. She said there was a bug going round. I now need to keep him away from my puppy as I don't want her to catch anything.
Hope he feels better soon.

My dear little puppy brought in a GIANT one the other day, honestly, I had no idea they even got that big. You could probably hear my shrieks of disgust for miles!!! :-D
hi ya, puppy is doing great, all is well, he's running around like a looney again. thank god. i suppose these are the dilemma's us puppy owners sometimes have to go through. fortunatly he wasnt dehydrated and now he's had some chicken and rice and has kept that down. he's pining for his normal food funny enough and is sleeping on his bag of food! you'd think a nice bit of chicken would be better than the dry stuff, supposedly not in this case. thank you all for the advice believe me it was greatly appreciated :)
oh BTW keeping the slugs at bay......just about.... having to chase him round the garden prizing them out his mouth....eugh!
Glad to hear the pups back to normal!
Kind regards, Clare

Ugh I hated it when she wouldn't 'drop it' but I'm a coward of all things creepy and slimy so had to shout till OH came to the rescue :D
Glad to hear things are better :)
hi just to let you knw we took ozzie to different vet today as his squits got decidedly worse. he has some gastric virus, any idea what causes this? he has a slight temperature and has been put on a course of antibiotics. have to carry on feeding boiled chicken and rice until i go back on monday to see how he went over weekend. my poor baby :(

Hi Tasha,
the fact it has been labelled as a virus with your vet would tend to suggest there is no definite cause for it ;) As with human GPs, the word "virus" is used for an inexplicable range of symptoms and when a fever is also present, the symptoms can sometimes be alleviated by A/Bs.
Fingers crossed his meds and bland diet will give his tummy and bowel time to settle and he'll be bouncing around again in no time. Best wishes, Teri :)
