I am trying to find as much information on castration of dogs as possible, just
for my own knowledge.  I had always thought that waiting until after adolesance
is a good age, but so many vets are pushing puppy owners into an early castration
from 6 months of age, that I wondered why!

Are their any good sites out there that someone could recommend a good read.

Also if a dog is done during its adolesance stage what side effects can happen?
Any stories to share ?

I have had 3 dog owners of late had their dogs castrated, all reacted differently.
One was done at 5 months against my advice.  He got over it well.
The next was done at 12 months against my advice, and took badly to having his
hormones taken away, he was in pain, and very dis-orientated.
The third was 3 years and has not reacted at all, most happy with him self. Is this
just one of those things that dogs react differently, or is their the right time to
castrate.  The 12 month old dog that has reacted badly, is it because he is in his
prime of hormones ?

Any advice appreciated, as I have always said to my owners neuter after 15 months
and in those cases the dogs usually been fine.

Luv dogs.
