i have a female akta aged 8 for whom i woul very much like to get a companion for , i have spoken to lots of people about lots of breeds and it seems that my favourite breed would actually be quite a good match providing i got a dog and not a bitch, i would just like to know if anyone has any puppies now or on the way available for purchase and also an idea of the prices for a pet home?

You don't say what your favourite is, do we assume Akita. If so a letter to the breed club may point you in the right direction or you could look at the Akita secion on this board and contact someone on that who may be able to help. This would still apply even if your favourite is not the Akita. Jackie H
