Hi All
I've posted here a few times about my naughty two year old Dalmatian Wilko and I wonder if any of you experienced Dalmatian owners can help. Wilko has just started pulling a very strange face. It only happens when he is very excited, for example when family he knows very well visit. The face he pulls is a strange mixture between a grimace, a snarl and well, a smile. His tail furiously wags so I presume it isn't aggression. I have never seen anything like it on a dog or any other animal for that matter. Do Dalmatians smile and do any of yours 'smile'.
Thanks
Dawn

Yes, dalmatians are well known for their smile. It's a true, genuine smile, so cherish it!
One of mine will, as well as grin widely, champ her jaws open and shut several times when she's extremely pleased!
:)
Thanks Jeangenie
It certainly is a sight to seen. Wow, they really are a clever breed aren't they?

I think they're the best in the world! :D
My aunties dog (an elderly GSD X) laughs..he curls his lips up...almost like a snarl but in a friendly way!
And my Staffies grin a lot :D <<<Like that!
My Dobe curls his top lip up and smiles to me when I get home :-)
That never fails to put a :-) on my face

The dobes I've had have all been smilers!
Once you've gotten over the initial shock after seeing it for the first time!! :-) lol

My Dalmatian does it too. Had a new vet at the surgery up against the wall when she first met him :D

My first dal beamed at my boyfriend the first time she met him, and he nearly legged it! (He got over the shock!)
Libby my flattie smiles too when shes really excited, and I lurve it :D *checks her pedigree to see if theres any Dal in there*
My two smile, Charlie only smiles at me but Casey will smile at anyone.
The first time Purdy did it she frightened the life out of me as I thought she had turned savage. Tigger just sort of wrinkles cant manage a smile and Molly can smile for Britian Thomas can only just about manage it.

Had a few Pomeranian's that do it to, Anton my Spanish just does an Elvis impression with one side of his lip curling :d
Had a greyhound do it, greeted with a big smile everytime i came in...sweet

We had a Golden Retriever when I was a young girl (Im an old girl now!) who used to be very smiley with everyone she used to meet!

I think all dogs are capable of "smiling" and each breed has their own inimitable way of doing it :D
Mine roll onto their backs like big teddy bears and curl their lips right up to their ears and the teeth come out and the tongue rolls to the side.................I just
love it :)
My Shepherd used to really curl her lips, the lips would go right back to her neck and gnash her teeth until the noise made my own teeth ache.
Only doggy people IMO, notice and appreciate it :)
