is in the vets as we speak having an ear canal resection on both ears.  We put it off as much as possible but after getting a 2nd opinion from a vet experienced in ear surgery they decided that was the only way forward.

I am at work today and of course can't concentrate at all!  My husband has taken the next few days off to be with him and keep the pup out of the way.

I shall let you know how he gets on.

Yippeeeee

He's come round from surgery and can be picked up at 4pm today.  Apparently he was in surgery for 2 hours as his ears were so bad.  The vet was pleased with the way it went and said it was definately needed.  Us thinking this would make him deaf has had the opposite effect, the vet has said he should have improved hearing.  This is a new vet and they seemed very good and explained everything in detail and have even kept the part of his ear canal they have removed - NO i do not want to see it!

Not sure what the bill will be yet - in the region of £600.00 but as long as it make's his life happier I don't care!

So pleased for you, I know how you feel, I have been in your position. He will feel more sorry for himself having to wear the lampshade for a little while.
Glad he is okay and give him a big hug from me.

Thank you for all your kind words.

Bailey is at home and looking like he has been beaten up by six bears at the moment.  He is fine in himself but being a bit over the top in his affections.  I have had the monkey on my lap all evening.  They shaved a lot of his hair off so he looks very odd at the moment and his poor little ears are swollen and bloody and full of stitches.

He's still eating well though and going for little walks so he obviously doesn't feel too bad.  He has a lampshade but he hasn't had to wear it yet as I think he knows not to touch his ears as he hasn't even gone near them.  He also hates lampshades so I think he has worked out that if he attempts to scratch them he will be getting it put on!  Also they are probably so sore at the moment - it will be when it all starts healing that they become itchy I guess.

Anyway I shall keep you all posted on the saga of Bailey's little ears and let everyone know if this has cured all his problems and maybe even have improved his hearing!  By the way the cost was £520.00.  Not too bad I guess!
