Help! I have a stud who has fathered 4 litters of pups. Someone brought their female over this week to breed to him and he is just not interested. The first day they brought her, he tried a few times, then walked off. They brought her again yesterday and he wouldn't even try. Other male dogs at our house were going crazy trying to breed her. This is the third time she's come into season and they've tried breeding to him and this has happened. He doesn't do this with other dogs. What is his problem? Could he just not be interested? I've never seen this happen before.

It is quite common in my breed for males just not to be very interested in some bitches and for some bitches to absolutely refuse one stud although they are a complete tart with another. :)

HI Sobzack...i've seen this before sometimes experienced male will not breed untill the dog is closer to being ready...dogs ovulate at different times..i would wait a couple days and have them bring her back.or if possible get some type of ovulation test

Is there any way that the bitch can stay with you and then you can tell by your dogs reaction when she's ready?
It seems as though she's ready to breed because of the reaction of the other males at our house. The owners of the female won't leave her with us.
If she is definitely ready it may be that he has a problem that you cannot see such as a disc out of alignment which causes him too much discomfort if he tries to mount
They've brought her to us the past three times she's come into season. When she comes into season, they bring her to us and he won't breed. But he will breed other dogs. Sounds to me like he's just being picky! :)

I know of some stud dogs that wont breed because the bitch has an ifection. Has she been swabbed for any bugs. It can I understand put some males off.

Note for Jas
My girl is the same, she flirts like mad for any dog any breed that is a good solid black but bring her a blue from her own breed and she just does not want to know. She chooses her friends in the same way - black is good any thing else will not be tolerated.
