I have a 14 week old Bichon Frise that refuses to walk on a lead. I have tried a collar as well as a harness but it does nor make any difference. As soon as the lead is attatched he either sits or lies down and refuses to move. Off the lead he will walk with me as good as gold. I have tried treats and coaxing but to no avail. I really dont want to make him walk by force but am running out of ideas.

hello guest....try firstly by attachinghis lead to the collar andthen leaving it on him, dont hold the other end but try to coax him with a treat or toy to play with you. try this a few times a day, until he decides that its not a bad thing, then do the same with someone else holding the lead gently not picking up the slack just holding it off the floor,if thats ok  then try the same but with taking up the slack, if thats ok then let the puppy walk where he wants to with you following, if either of the steps forward fails then go backto the begining. it can be a slow proccess but it does eventually work!
good luck
Pauline
