Have just watched the parade of England's cricketers through London on TV - glad to see Women's team as well as the Mens - it was brilliant.

I'll bet that at least a couple of my guys from the office would have been at Mansion House.

How many people think that "Jerusalem" could become the unofficial National Anthem for England - rather like "Flowers of the Forest" has become Scotland's.

Okay this is how ignorant I am of sports. When I read the title of this thread at first I thought it must be about crickets, as in the little creatures, then I figured no hang on, it must be a dog called Cricket!! Nothing else even occured to me, LOL: :D :D

lol @ Goldmali!!  :D

I love cricket and have watched the entire series on the edge of my seat!!  A fantastic result but with 2 sides who played their hearts out.  :-)

What I love about cricket so much is that the players seem to be down to earth guys, who are all great mates off the pitch and work brilliantly as a team.  As much as Flintoff performed when he was needed to so did many of the other guys.

I also love the fact that its an honourable game.  The players from both teams have a great respect for each other and as much as they are competitive they are also so quick to give praise to the other teams.

I like Hoggard, who is sometimes IMO one of the unsung heros.  I read an interview about him the other day and it said that he shies away from the attention and would rather be walking his dogs on the moors!!  How lovely  :-)

I went to see Northants vs Australia last month and met Brett Lee at the queue for the ice cream van.  A lovely guy and I wished them luck in the Ashes - though told them they didn't stand a chance ;-)  He laughed and said that he just loved playing us over here but to watch out when we were next over there!!  My claim to fame!!  :D

I missed the parade at lunchtime (was walking my own little monster) but am looking forward to catching the highlights on the tele later.

A big congratulations to England  :D

Am I the only one who hates cricket

I think it comes from my childhood, when we used to be dragged up to our Aunts in London everytime there was a match on at the Oval.  She had a flat overlooking the ground.  All the grownups were addicted and my sister and I were bored to tears held up in the elderly Aunts flat.

Shame Childline wasn't around then, it was definately cruelty ;)

Before my OH converted me (explained the game and how it works) I used to hate it with a vengence!!  Couldn't stand the fact that such a boring thing could be allowed to be broadcast for the whole day when Show Jumping and X-Country events you were lucky to get 30 mins coverage.  I even considered writing to the BBC and complaining about it!!  ;-)

Since then though I have been totally converted -  I think its such an interesting game, almost like a game of chess - strategy is everything!!  :-)
