Hello, can anyone help me, i have a 2 and a half year old dalmation bitch that i want to breed, she is a pure pedigree, liver coloured and has a fantastic nature.
I live in the kent area and we are having difficulty finding a male dog.

What is her hip score and what results were her BAER tests?

I'm assuming she's KC registered and BAER tested normal? Is she a very good example of the breed - has she done well in shows or otherwise been independently assessed? I'm sure you know that only about 10% of pedigree dogs are of suitable breeding quality, and dalmatians are especially difficult!

Her breeder (if knowledgeable) would be the best person to advise on which stud dog to use and which lines to avoid, because some bloodlines, when combined, are a disaster! :(

She is the right age to be bred from.  Has she got any cosmetic faults ie blue eyes or patches?  Is she hearing tested normal?  She will need to be KC registered and check that her pedigree has not been endorsed.  The best thing to do would as JG says go back to the breeder who will best be able to advise you of the bloodlines.  Most dalmatian breeders will not require the bitch to be hip tested as there is not a problem in the breed but they will require a hearing test certificate.  If you do not have a particularly helpful breeder which I didnt then if you contact Shelagh Stevenson 01543 490849 she will give you some advice.  She is the secretary of the British Dalmatian club and is very knowledgeable. 

The kent area is a bit of a difficult area as there are not many dogs in that area.  You might well have to travel. 

Think carefully before embarking on breeding as it can be a happy event or a total nightmare and remember that a lot of people will require a lot of back up and support when taking a puppy.  I get emails from my lot nearly every month.
