Hi

Can anyone tell me what constitutes a good pedigree? How many champions would be in a good pedigree and how many would be in an excellent pedigree?

This is just a curiosity question, I have no intention of breeding from my male even if it was possible!

Thanks
Carol

Champions arent always an indication of a great pedigree,  you can have a pedigree  containing many producers, equally as good, i guess it depends on the champions as we all know some are worthy and others hit lucky, id look at the lines do they  produce/sire healthy typey dogs, look at the great dogs in your breed and see where they came from, good luck in working it out.

Thanks but I think that is all a bit complicated for me!

It was just out of interest - I have no interest in showing Max

Generally if you do not know the breed or the dogs involved a pedogree si simply a list of names, and if there are more than half champions it would point to soemone choosing to use dogs for breeding that had won well.

The worth of a pedigree can best be determined when the person reading it can see it as livign breathing d0ogs they ahve known personally and know their strong and weak points, or can rely on their elders in the breed for this info.
