Hi

What about PDSA, Blue Cross, etc or just a local rescue centre?

You are better off giving to a local centre, then you will see what your money does! :) We give food and blankets/toys to a local dog rescue who really appreciate any help they can get.

Yes that's what we do to.  Our boys have sooo many toys and they never destroy any of them so every 6 months we have a clear out and take them to the animal shelter.  I took my husband with me last time and he had never been before and he found it very destressing and wanted to take all the dogs home.

the only problem is i cannot drive so i would never be able to get there often enough as there is not one within walking distance.

We give a donation to our local dog rescue centre every month, if you cant visit its okay they will send you mail updates on what your monies going on so you can see the difference you are making.  Also you get invited to any special days and it feels more personal than giving to the larger charities.  They tell us about new dogs they have taken in and where they were found, and as you will know the local areas you feel like your doing good in your own community (well I do anyway).
