Make sure you find out from the breed clubs, what hereditary diseases affect the breed you are looking for, so you can ask apropriate questions. Don't go to e-pupz without some background knowledge. Make sure you are buying the healthiest puppy you can.

epupz made me really :-( reading through some of the add's, one had his dog offered in part exchange !
There was one like that on freeads it had a 4month old puppy on there oviousley they had got bored of it and wanted to swap it for a computer. if not they would have £150 to buy one instead. how hartless is that. i was lucky i got my first pup from epupz and she is perfect. you might know or heard of them, their kennel name is Bordeneo.

Guest, epupz is the last place that I would suggest that you look for a well bred puppy! :( I'm sure that there may be an odd reputable breeder who uses it, but it would be like looking for a needle in a haystack, and you would need some knowledge to know what you are looking for.
As Melodysk says, do contact the breed club of your chosen breed and ask them to direct you to an experienced breeder who will be doing their best to produce good temperament, healthy puppies who will be an asset to your family for many years to come.
I agree I found an advert on epupz the other day for puppies due for taking home on Christmas day!!! :( The mum hadn't even been shown, and they were asking certainly what I would call the more expensive end of the rough price for a good specimen for the breed

I know Natalie. It's very difficult to explain to people who say that they 'only want a pet' that people who mate their own dog and bitch together are usually doing it for convenience and for producing puppies to sell. To me the pets in the litter have as important as job to do as a showdog! But it's like me buying a new car - I know nothing except where to put the petrol and the salesman could tell me anything and I'd believe it!! :(
It's the same with people buying a puppy when they have no knowledge. How would they know that one of the Kennel Club's affixes, Kentoo of Kenmillen etc, means that the breeder doesn't have an affix and probably (of course there may be the odd exception!) no knowledge of the dogs on the pedigree either.
It's not easy to explain the difference between a puppy producer and and dog breeder but this does it pretty well.

The most saddening thing for me, is that this particular breed hasn't really been found by the puppy farmers, and it is still a relatively rare breed so there aren't many "accidents" that happen, so it is sad to find one :( This is only the second "accident" in this breed (in England) that I have heard of :(
Just make sure the breeder has the KC papers as a pedigree dog without is classed as a non-ped.
I read on another dog website that there were some breeders advertising on epupz, saying that they were pedigree and then not handing over papers and becoming quite awkward.
I have previously advertised on Epupz and it is one of those sites which you are guaranteed to get more than a higher share of nutters. I did actually sell to someone from there but most of them were a total pain in the bottom. I accidently got on their mailing list and there were soooo many puppies every day it was shocking.
I think there is the odd decent breeder, the last time I found an advertisment for this breed, it was a decent breeder, but this one now certainly isn't!
