Byron, my eldest husky, suffered with spots a few weeks ago, around his tummy and groin area. We took him down the vets and she said he's most probably had an allergic reaction to something. He was put on a course of anti-biotics which did the trick and when he saw the vet again for his check-up, she said he was absolutely fine. Now, the spots have come back. They almost look like boils but I can't work out what is causing them. He occasionally gets irritated by them but doesn't sit there hour after hour knawing away at himself.
Does anyone have any suggestions for what could be the cause of this before we go up the vets and spend another £60 on a 10 day course of anti-biotics?
My cocker spaniel, Ruby Tuesday, got spots on her muzzle and I took her to the vets who said it was some sort of canine acne. She gave me some cream which was useless as she kept licking it off, and some antibiotics. Like yours it cleared up with the tablets and then came back a few days later. The vet had said it wasn't contagious so I just left it and eventually it cleared up on it's own and hasn't come back.
It could be that Byron has something similar- if it's not contagious/infected or bothering him I'd leave it for a bit. You could try some teatree oil 'appen..
I have to say Ruby did look unattractive with her spots but she's blossomed into a beautiful swan-[she hasn't relly turned into a swan-that would make her a freak]
Just wondering if he could be getting a bit sweaty in that area..? Maybe you could try sudacreme..
Funnily enough, we put sudacreme on it yesterday. The spots are fairly infected. He does get sweaty in that area but this is the only time it has happened within five years so it might not be down to that. I'll go out and buy some tea tree oil, haven't heard about that one yet. Til then, I'll just have to watch where he's laying. Silly git!
