my 3 year old boxer suffers from phantoms, shes had one after each of her seasons. we were going to have her spayed but at the moment we have not been able to. during her phantoms she produces milk and her temperment changes and she becomes aggressive to the other dogs in the house.
i was wondering if anyone knew of any herbal remedies that could help with this situation.
many thanks

Phantoms are a perfectly normal phenomenon, and almost all bitches will have the to a greater or lesser degree after every season. As for remedies, Raspberry leaf tablets are the best. You start giving them when the season starts and carry on until the time when puppies would be leaving home. Also cut down the protein level in her food and give her lots of exercise. Don't let her brood. (Think of a girls' public school games mistress! Be strict!)

If you're going to have her spayed the best time is midway between seasons, unless she's in mid-phantom. In that case you do it as soon as the phantom is over.

Denes make them, and you should be able to get them in a good petshop. The dosage is on the bottle.

So due Holland and Barrett if you get stuck and can't find a pet shop that sells them.

My younger bitch has also been like this too & has been very simular with the other dogs. I have used medication from the vets on one occasion as she was quite bad & i've also used alternatives which worked to a certain degree but i dont think i used it early enough to be fair, she had a season not so long ago & this is the first time that she has ever had a season & not had a phantom afterwards, there is only one thing that i did & i doubt that it was connected but i shall be observing with future seasons as i was going to have her spayed due to her phantoms.
Good luck with your girl.
P.S i used pulsitilla which was quite good.
Edited due to being tired when typing & making loads of mistakes :-)

You can also use SAGE to dry up any milk :)  I defrost a pound of minced lamb mixed with 1 tablespoon of sage and a quarter teaspoon of Garlic, then give a couple of tablespoons of the mixture at each meal.  :D

Hope this helps
