Hi.
I have a nine year old Papillon bitch whose skin is changing from pink with the occasional black spot to completely black.  Her under belly is the only pink left on her.  She has always had good pigmentation.
Her coat is clipped short.  She is not on any medication,  her diet consists of Burns complete and raw minced beef, lamb and tripe.
Some one suggested she might be getting to much sun?

Any ideas to the cause?

Regards

Hi
This could be due to the dog being hypothyroid, I'd have the vet check her out if I was you. Other symptoms include weight gain, tiredness and poor coat (but if she is clipped it may not be as obvious).

Hi,

Thank you for taking time to think about my question and replying, but other than the change in skin colour she has no other sysmptom of this condition.
Done a quick search and found this site to be helpful, for anyone eles interested this is the address.

http://www.thyroid-info.com/articles/dog-hypo.htm

The skin colour is her only change, health, temprament, energy levels are all normal.

Hi Marianne

Its not always necessary for a Hypo T dog to show weight gain, my girl didn't gain weight but slightly lost it, which you would think was more a classic sign of Hyper T, but as in my other postings on this subject you can see she was most defiantely Hypo T.
