Does anyone know if these are any good as a form of exercise?  Decided I need to do a bit more than just the dog runs and quite like the idea of bouncing along to Eastenders of an evening.  I'm sure that Glazby will think his Mum is totally mad but thats nothing new!!

Gillian McKeith from You are what you Eat seems to recommend them - does anyone know much about them?
- By earl [gb] Date 07.09.05 14:18 UTC
I fancied them too Charanda so will be interested to hear any opinions.  Do you just jump up and down on them, nothing more?
- By Charanda [de] Date 07.09.05 14:25 UTC
I think you can either just jump up and down on them or you can also move your arms about too for an extra work out (though I'll have mine firmly over my chest to prevent the black eyes)!!  :D

I've just ordered myself one, its on a 2 week delivery so give me a few weeks and I'll tell you what its like!!  :-)
- By LJS Date 07.09.05 14:37 UTC
LOL about the black eyes :D

How much was it out of interest ?

It was a cheapy £27 though there are some going up to £150.

I thought, start off with a cheapy and then if I get really into it and want to splash out on a better one then I can.  It still looked and sounded pretty sturdy and I got it from my catalogue!!  :-)
- By mackleback Date 07.09.05 14:27 UTC
I used to have one of these a few years ago. They are great fun!!! :D You can do twists etc. to help get a nice trim waistline. I havent used one in a while, but they are a great, fun way to excersise!! :-)
- By Charanda [de] Date 07.09.05 14:43 UTC
Cool - so did you actually see any difference after using it?  What bits of you is it good for toning - you mentioned waistline, just wondering if it might do anywhere else too?!?!  :D
- By kath_barr [gb] Date 07.09.05 15:04 UTC
I have one...know what you mean about the black eyes! ;-)   They are great for general health and fitness, lymphatic system, circulation, increasing bone density, strength and stamina, etc.

Put "rebounder" or "rebounding" into a Google search for more info :-)
- By Charanda [de] Date 07.09.05 15:13 UTC
Ooooh thanks Kath - I didn't know what it was called before!!  I'm googling as we speak!!  Just had one of my questions answered straight away - low ceilings aren't a problem  :D

bounce bounce bounce!!!  :D
- By Bluebell [gb] Date 07.09.05 16:19 UTC
I fancied one of them. But Im not sure that I could use it without the help of two very over excited Labs! They only have to see me start to dance about a bit to get all over excited.
- By Blue Date 09.09.05 15:26 UTC
LOL at Bluebell now that would be a site to see.
- By Bluebell [gb] Date 09.09.05 15:30 UTC
You should see how excited they get when they see the neighbours kids on theirs and thats over a 5 foot fence :D
- By mackleback Date 07.09.05 15:08 UTC
I think it can be good for all parts of the body if used correctly. I just used it as a fun way to excersise though...not much of a gym person!! ;-) I found it helped my waist, bum and thighs the most.......i used it after having my son. I might get another one actually. And i think i might invest in a sports bra too......dont like the sound of those black eyes!!!
- By Charanda [de] Date 07.09.05 15:18 UTC
lol - I'm not much of a gym person either!!  ;-)  I liked the idea of being able to do this at home and I now have space enough for a little trampette.  I have in the past tried those sit-up things but never really got into it.  I've also got a few work out videos but with no room to do them in (leaping gracefully over the coffee table)!!  ;-)

I'm looking forward to giving it a go and yes, I'll be dusting my sports bra down!!

I have a feeling that I might have a Glazby monster wanting to join in with me though!!  :D
- By earl [gb] Date 07.09.05 15:54 UTC
Hmmm now you've got me wanting one again!  Maybe on payday I'll join you Charanda and we can have black eyes together.  :D
What make is the one you've ordered?
- By Dill [gb] Date 07.09.05 16:27 UTC
LOL

I gave up on mine, I didn't want my chest making aquaintance with my knees too early in my life   :D :D :D and my OH was getting funny looks re. my black eyes
- By LJS Date 07.09.05 16:29 UTC
You have inspired me and just gone to Argo and picked one up :D :D

It was good as had to pick something else up my mum had got for Indigo's Bday over 6 weeks ago

Anyway I am waiting until all children are in bed and will get it out ! I am sure my teo Labs will be trying to join in the bouncing  :D

So I have my walker which I have started to go on every morning I do 5 mins of sit ups so will do this for 15 mins so will see what happens !

When I read the title of this thread I thought it was going to be about 13 year old girls dressed to kill in make up and mini skirts!

Oh dear, oh dear!
- By LJS Date 07.09.05 17:18 UTC
Yes oh dear ! :D :D
- By Charanda [de] Date 08.09.05 08:30 UTC
Lucy - how did you get on with yours last night??  :D

Earl - I can't remember the make of mine, I'll have a look in my catalogue this evening and let you know.  :-)

Is there going to be a surge of women walking round with trampette related black eyes now?!?!  :D

Trampette = A Little Tramp (I can see why my title may have had you confused there!!  ;-)

Boing Boing Boing!!!  :D
- By abbymum [gb] Date 08.09.05 08:52 UTC
I used to have one but the kids got more use out of it than I ever did, I found it really boring. I dont have to worry about black eyes thankfully.

Well it remained in it's box as Indigo didn't go to bed until late (that is a nother story ). I am at home all day tomorrow so might brave a go home alone :D

They are brilliant. We have had one for 15 years and still use it. Hold on to your boobies ;-)
- By Charanda [de] Date 09.09.05 12:49 UTC
I think I might have to strap them down!!  ;-)

I'm quite happy today - Have just been out shopping and discovered that I've dropped a dress size without noticing it!!  Am usually a size 16 but tried on some 14s and they fitted!!  Don't know when or how that happened!!  :D  :D
- By Charanda [de] Date 13.09.05 08:24 UTC
Ok everyone - my trampette arrived yesterday.  :D

It was very easy to put together and is satisfyingly sturdy as I was quite worried about going straight through it regardless of them saying that the maximum weight was 15.7 stone - I wasn't convinced!!

I am now though and after some bouncing up and down yesterday I think that I might just enjoy this!!  Its not as easy as I thought - though thats down to my fitness levels rather than the trampette itself, I was breathless after 2 minutes!!

They say to start of with just a couple of minutes a time and that you will see the results quite quickly so I'm going to persevere and will keep you posted!!  :D

Glazby thought it was very strange - first of all I became Scary Mum and there was a lot of barking and jumping around but then as he got braver and jumped on it himself he decided it was great for digging on!! Mental note to self - make sure I put it away after use or I'll come home to find it in bits!!!  :D
- By kath_barr [gb] Date 13.09.05 08:45 UTC
Glad you and Glazby are enjoying it :-D

You're right to go slowly at first, plus doing a short session and repeating it many times a day is safer and has more health benefits than one long long workout.  :-)
- By GreatBritGirl [gb] Date 13.09.05 11:39 UTC
i have one its great fun think mine was £19.99 in some sale at argos a while ago - dog loves it too he tries to join in
- By ClaireyS Date 13.09.05 12:51 UTC
I wouldnt mind getting one myself, im a bit concerned about banging my head on the ceiling though  :D :D  can you actually bounce that high on them ?
- By Blue Date 13.09.05 13:21 UTC
What Is Rebounding? ( taken from a health site)

Put simply - bouncing on a mini trampoline. Unlike regular trampolining, the aim isn't to bounce high or perform gymnastic tricks, but to perform a series of small, controlled movements.

You don't bounce high. Argos has been sold out for ages.

SOmeone on ebay has the 6 leg one which looks quite decent.
- By Charanda [de] Date 13.09.05 13:23 UTC
Blue - I got mine from my Additions catalogue for £27 and its a 6 legged one and comfortingly sturdy!!  :-)
- By Blue Date 13.09.05 14:14 UTC
Think they don't have any either as my sister was trying to buy one. ( she tried to pinch ours)
- By Charanda [de] Date 13.09.05 14:16 UTC
I ordered mine on the day I started this thread and it arrived yesterday - it did say when I went to order it that it is sent direct from supplier and could take up to 3 weeks delivery but it arrived a week later so very happy with the service  :-)

All my friends are now looking forward to coming round and having a go!!  :D
- By Blue Date 13.09.05 14:22 UTC
Do you have the link for it?
- By Charanda [de] Date 13.09.05 14:29 UTC
This is the line of the link (though I never know how to do them properly) - sorry I'm useless!!  ;-)

http://www.additionsdirect.co.uk/additions/product.asp?brand=additions&extra=&mscs_sid=N3NT4A6DCRRH8LTMRU4PMUFXWCUX6Q83&fh_secondid=217449&sdg_fh_page=index.jsp&fh_view_size=9&fh_eds=%c3%9f&fh_usertype=additionsc3&fh_session=N3NT4A6DCRRH8LTMRU4PMUFXWCUX6Q83&fh_location=%2f%2fadditions%2fen_GB%2fcategories%3c%7b8004%7d%2fcategories%3c%7b8575%7d&fh_refview=lister

If that totally bamboozles you then just go to www.additionsdirect.co.uk then to the furniture and homeware section, choose sports equipment and its the V-Fit Jogger Trampoline at £27  :-)
- By Charanda [de] Date 13.09.05 13:22 UTC
No, they are specifically designed for indoor use and you only really bounce about 4 inches so unless you've got an olde worlde cottage with a low ceiling you should be okay!!

Had another go at lunchtime and I would advise that no alcohol is drunk prior to bouncing - I got a bit of a headrush!!!!  :D
- By ClaireyS Date 13.09.05 13:38 UTC
I think I might cancel my gym membership and get one, I will probably get more use out of it.  I will look on ebay tonight :)
- By Charanda [de] Date 13.09.05 13:44 UTC
Cool - I went for it as I could never afford gym membership!!  I'm starting off with just a couple of minutes a time and then working up as my fitness levels improve - and here was me thinking I could go straight in at 30 mins bouncing infront of Eastenders with no problem - I could hardly manage 2 minutes!!!  :D

Still, its quite a nice liberating feeling - I'm already looking forward to getting on it this evening which for me is very unusual when it comes to exercise!!!  ;-)
- By Blue Date 13.09.05 14:16 UTC
Put your music on full blast and off you go.

My daughter take turns I bounce for 5 mins them we swap. I rest she bounces :-)
- By Lily Mc [gb] Date 13.09.05 14:49 UTC
Right, I've jumped (bounced?) onto this bandwagon LOL.

In fairness, have always had an obsession with the idea and was given vouchers for my birthday for this purpose - just hadn't got round to it.

Should be good for a laugh ........ nothing needing 'strapping down' here though.

M.
- By Blue Date 13.09.05 14:54 UTC
Maybe we should have a champdog trampathon :-)   Get a page with picks of everyone on it ;-)

ROFLOL :-D I am a site and a half on it. ;-)
- By Charanda [de] Date 14.09.05 06:48 UTC
lol @ blue  :D  I must say I don't think I look at my best on it - bright red face, bouncing boobies, trying to concentrate on not bouncing off, keeping Glazby from joining in and telling the OH not to laugh at me all at the same time.....now thats what I call multi-tasking!!  :D
- By Blue Date 14.09.05 08:31 UTC
Sounds just like my house.  :-D
- By Blue Date 14.09.05 08:30 UTC
You know I think I need to go back to school for my poor spelling. I am as bad as a teenager with the texting "talk".

Picks should read Pics :-)

And Site should read Sight :-)

You can tell I just type away and don't pay any attention :-D
- By Charanda [de] Date 14.09.05 08:46 UTC
lol - don't worry about it, those of us who spell the odd word wrong obviously have our brains operating on a higher plane - spelling is far too low on the agenda!!  Mine is generally thinking about the weekends and white wine ;-)
- By Charanda [de] Date 13.09.05 14:56 UTC
We're going to be the Bouncing Champdoggers!!!  :D  :D

I'm off home for another go now!!  :D
