We're moving soon and really do have to put carpets down on the stairs and landing plus a few bedrooms; obviously we don't want to spend too much on this :P

The neighbour over the road supplies and fits carpets and he's shown us some samples for £5.30 per sq. metre plus vat, does anyone know if this is a reasonable/cheapish price?
I have no idea, and am not sure if we even have time to get to a carpet shop to compare prices, we are so crazily busy (plus I'm trying to find time to prepare for a working trial near me!!! ).

Any thoughts appreciated :)

I too have just bought new carpet, and having looked around, decent carpet costs £20-£30 a sq m. So £5.30 even with the VAT on after that, is very cheap. What's it like though?

If you are putting it down,in order to sell the house, and it LOOKS good - as long as you can keep it clean whilst selling - what does it matter how long it lasts? :D :D :D

(As long as I'm not buying your house ;) )

Yep, if this is to do up the house you are selling then don't spend much. But if it's for your new home, to be used where there will be lots of wear buy something better. Apparently (my brother was a carpet cleaner and delt with allsorts of quality !) 80% wool 20% nylon is suitable for most houses. It's what we have and are more than happy. It was £22 sq mtr.

Sounds as if the price per metre is pretty good then, thanks guys :P

Our neighbour is also going to sand down our disgusting looking parquet to make it presentable, and re-do our kitchen floor which is a mess due to the wrong type of flooring being laid previously!

I think once we've done this, our house'll be ready for putting on the market - gulp!!!
