Hi all
Well....off to another dog show on Sunday with my newf (the spawn of satan) :)
After all his classes he still won't stand :(
I have tried, wedging him against the wall (no mean feat), a treat on the end of his nose (I don't think he would take any notice if it was half a fresian), a hand under his tummy (he just sits right down, maybe a strong tall dark handsome young man with big shoulders and big feet........ ) and a foot under his tum (which he sits on and my foot dissappears into the abyss) to no avail!
When we get to the judge, his tail wags like it is possessed, until the judge checks his....you know....his pride and joy. Have you ever seen a newf jump 6 foot from a standing position :D
Its like watching a harrier jump jet!
Once that is over, he moves around the ring beautifully and thouroughly enjoys himself :)
Apart from using the jack from the car to keep him upright, I am at a loss.
Please help my floppy dog and an owner who is at a loss :)
Thanks

one of mine was like that..in desperation i used to gently but firmly hold on to his willie hair the judgesalways use to comment what beautiful big eyes he had...lol..it didnt hurt him but kept his attention...no ill effects either...start at home while standing him for a few secs at a time ...it does work believe me.....

That works on my Cavalier, though I get some filthy looks from him afterwards! My friend who sometimes shows him has been known to gently jab him in his 'important bits' to stop him sagging. Bit difficult with something as heavy as a Newfie though!! :-D
