Hi all, after chatting to my OH we came across a few questions neither of us could answer, and i was wondering if you could all help me.
Our breeders contract states that if we wished to use our dog to breed then we need their permission, which is all cool but we cannot get in contact with them since we bought our pup, actually i lie we have had a phone conversation with them, but that was quite soon after (he is 9/10mths old). anyway enough chat the question:
If we wanted to breed with him and we cannot get hold of them what happens?
Can we still breed from him?
Can they be kc reg?
who is going to answer this one today?

If his KC papers are endorsed (which is what most breeders do, when they sign contracts), then you must get in touch with the breeder who will lift the endorsement. If the endorsement is not lifted, then no, the puppies cannot be KC registered.
Generally, the endorsement will be lifted after relevent to the breed health checks/tests are carried out: provided then that the results are satisfactory, then the breeder lifts the endorsement.
Hope this helps you.

Thanks Margot,
But what if we cannot get in touch with them ever again?
Would the Kennel club help?

Kennel Club may be able to help - if they have an affix, then it has to be renewed annually, so the KC should have details. If you cannot get in touch with the breeder through the usual channels - writing, emailing, phoning, etc, then approach them. However, I would advise you to do the health tests (hip scoring/eye testing etc) - your breed society should tell you which ones are relevant to your breed.
I would also advise you to do all this BEFORE you breed her!

The Kennel club would not help if the endorsements were in place and the new buyer had been correctly infomed. The Kennel Club might help you to contact the breeder if they had moved or something.

Are you thinking of putting him to the rescue bitch you are hoping to get?

Read the first post on breeding about using your boy as a stud first - see if you think that the "pros" would outdo the "cons". Remind your hubby too that you would be equally responsible for all puppies produced by a mating as the owner of the bitch!

Me too nite
OKI,
Why don't you state the full kennel club name of your dogs and the names of the breeder and roughly where in the UK they are based, people may be able to point you in the right direction.
