Topic Dog Boards / Feeding / cod liver oil taste alternative
- By ianhills [gb] Date 02.09.05 10:32 UTC
my dog loves the taste of cod liver oil. often, he turns his nose up at his food and then the moment a drizzle of CLO is added he troughs the lot. i know it is not good to add cod liver oil too often or in large amounts, so what can i put on his food that wont harm him but has the same sort of taste?

Salmopet salmon oil is much better for them and my dogs love the taste.

Quistel health care produce a great Omega 3 oil from sand eel.  I've used it now for 18 months its a great product. There is no smell and no taste, as I take the human version of it.  If you need more information, you can contact me through my details in my Profile. by clicking on Peilady at the top left of this message.

Are sand eels now not a protected species?

No Tohme

Sand eels/sand lance are not on the protected species, they are one of the most none over fished fish of the Aquatic life. www.dfo-mpo.gc.ca/zone/underwater_sous-marin/SandLance/sandlanc_e.htm

Oh I thought one of the reasons Mr Burns stopped making them was that sand eel stocks were becoming depleted for various reasons and hence some sea birds etc that relied on them were having problems.......
