Hi.

My 5 month old bitch has started acting quite strange this weekend.....On saturday whil;st walking her....on two seperate occasions a dog came up to her once she was off lead once on....she snapped at them - never done this before.

And yesterday and today she seems awfully jumpy .....she's barking at anything, In fact she's being quite a pest.

Does anybody have any ideas?

Think its just their age my pup 6 mnths in a weeks time has been barking on and off all day and around teatime started jumping up and biting not hard but being quite a nuisance and not listening to anything she was told,think they are pushing the boundaries and you have to be firm and calmly keep the rules in place hard I know when they keep on,mine has been fine with other dogs though.

It's possible she's starting to feel a bit hormonal ... ;)

I thought that.......If so does that mean her season could be soon?

She could well be getting closer to it - they always reckon any time from about 6 months onwards. PMT makes us all feel snappy!

Just keep my eye on her......I also put it down to the horrible stage arriving.....poor little girl...it could be both........she's just a baby....so I do my best not to let it bother me too much.!!

What breed of dog do you have xenaqueen small,medium,or large,mine is large already at 6mnths she will be giant newfie/berner so although I had thought about maybe her starting her season I am not so sure as I think larger dogs dont have a 1st season till about 1yr,although I suppose it could be hormones kicking in ready,and I think she is just getting bossy  breeder did mention berners can get very bossy from 6 mnths so here we go.

LOL...think I got the wrong breed :D Lola has been bossy since the day we brought her home! Poor Shay has just learned to do as he's told :D :D OH says she's just a typical woman :rolleyes:

You see thats what I think typical woman and I am a woman. Funny thing the berner books I bought said bitches are harder than dogs,dogs shrug it off more thats why originally I was going for a dog,then Zanta arrived and best of both worlds,the cross of the two.
