Hi all, I am about to enter my boxer into his first open show but he has one ear that doesn't hang correctly. A very good friend of mine suggested taping the ears and I found some brill websites on taping a boxers ears the natural way. The only problem is my boy is 2 yrs old and I don't know if this method will work?? Would this also be considered a fault?? Thanks
Hi,
I would give it a go if I were you. The fact that he is not a pup may make it more difficult to get a good result but definately try. It is a fault and can really take away from the gorgeous boxer expression so would really let him down in the ring.
Good luck with it!
Jen
Hi Jen, we are entering the show for a bit of fun and a laugh plus my litttle sister wants to have a go at junior handling and he is a big softie! He has loads of faults bit if I can rectify one then thats one less to worry about! Thanks for the advice, much appreciated! Clare
Oh yes, Boxer ears a new source of entertainment in our household as we all take it in turns to massage the 'crease' in to Dylans ears, he loves it at the moment as he is teething too so it's all very soothing for him - but I must admit, when he wakes in the morning and looks at me with one ear down right and the other off on a tangent I do despair, but he looks so sweet that I can't help laughing :)
I've heard that tapeing their ears does work very well - not sure at 2 years of age but like Jen says I'd give it a go - might be worth trying the massage as well (you can find tips on this on line too).
Good luck with it all.

Cheers boxer mum, I have just put the tape on his ears and although he's not trying to get it opffhe does look very sorry for himself!! I'll keep you posted!Clare
Just an update to this to help anyone searching later on (Boxer Mum is my better half).
The ear massaging seems to have been a huge success, we kept on doing it every time he sat with one of us and I kept catching him every time he was asleep and tucking the ears into the correct fold under his head and after a couple of weeks he now has a lovely crease in both ears.
I must admit I poo-poo'ed the idea at first but it definitely seems to work . . . .

Give it a go (smile)
I have shown 4 Boxers in my life, and never had that problem, but you can try taping the ears.
