I was pleased when my puppy got pulled out and my dog got 4th in Open at Birmingham in spite of an earlier tummy upset, but that's nothing to the day I had yesterday! We went to the Humberside Cavalier club show and my puppy got 5th out of 7 I think, her first place at an open show where she had to beat dogs to get it, and my dog only went and got BEST IN SHOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! He had to beat some lovely dogs, particularly the Best Bitch was gorgeous, and I've never won BIS before - I was shaking all over!!!! :-D

Thanks all! I still can't believe it - am carrying the rosette around with me!! MM I bet your boy had much more fun rolling around in the grass though :-D
Mind you, he made a dramatic entrance - wriggled out of my hands while I was transferring him from the car crate to the show crate, and hurtled straight in through the door (we were parked just outside the entrance) with the puppy following him, and charged straight through the room to the far side where they were caught, with me running after calling him!! Lots of laughter from all and a very red face from me. Luckily the judging hadn't started, so the judge didn't see, and he at least didn't charge through the minor puppy class or anything!
Grr!

Fantastic! Congratulations!!! What colour is he?

He's a blenheim - with the prized spot too! His breeder is mad on tricolours and of course most breeders keep their bitches, so she was willing to sell a decent blenheim dog. She then realised she had sold the best dog she had bred in 20 years!! We are good friends now and I often tease her about having sold him, and she offers to buy him back!

I was there yesterday and saw your win, well done, you have had some fun with your boy.
Hope it continues.

Oh my favourite. :) Good luck for the future! Sounds like he'll have a very promising show career!

Thanks Evelyn, Goldmali. He's already had a pretty good show career, specially for a first dog! I love him to bits! My puppy got placed too so we had a good time on Sunday - good thing I didn't notice how far away it was when I decided to enter!! :-D
