So for fear of sounding stupid What is a whelping box?.
I get the idea it is for when the pups are going to be born but i still don't know what one is,
Danielle
I glad i got a male it all sounds completely hard

A whelping box is a bed where the bitches go in to hopefully whelp their pups, but definitely go in once the pups have been born and stay in there with their pups.
I use a large crate with a puppy pen as my whelping box with a big cover over the crate to keep it nice and warm and dark.

I take it whelp means to have?
In whelp. or whelping means giving birth in dog speak :)
To have puppies, and a whelping boxes tries to mimic a den which a female dog in whelp(pregnant) would have in the wild.

thankyou eveyone that helped you learn something new everyday

Giving birth for canines = whelp,
For pigs it is to 'Farrow' in horses to 'Foal'
Can anyone think of some others?

Cattle and elephants (and icebergs!) 'calve'.
Teenage girls..............In trouble :D ;)
