Topic Dog Boards / Showing / Can anybody help a junior handler?
- By thomas-the-spot [gb] Date 03.09.05 13:47 UTC
As it looks unlikely Charlotte will be able to take Beagle in next Saturday is there anybody who could loan her a dog for short while first thing in the morning so she can go in to the ring and do her handling for the Richmond finals classes.  She has really worked hard so if anybody could help her I would be really grateful.  If she was entered on Friday we could have arranged a dalmatian but sadly she is on Saturday.  We are hopeing the beagle will snap out of it but if we have a back up it would be great.

We're not entered otherwise she could have handled Lou & if she was very bad my JD ;) , but never met anyone that bad ;)

I known some one who has whippets but don't know if they are entered won't see them until Monday evening. They are nice whippets too ;)
- By thomas-the-spot [gb] Date 03.09.05 16:40 UTC
A whippet would be perfect.  I dont mind what it is as long as it doesnt want to eat the judge.  I will even pay for the entry of the dog as poor old Charlotte has never qualified before and this would mean such a lot to her. :)

Only have an ancient goldie and a loony flatcoat so can't help, but hope you get something sorted for Charlotte, fingers n paws crossed here :)

TTS she can't handle a toy.  As she is enterd in hound group it must be a hound.... :)  Still that won't be a problem, I'm waiting on a phone call from one of my handlers to say her bitch has come in season (due any time) and will need a utility breed!

Bro's dog also expected to come into season, luckily he has sorted out a couple of possible dogs for himself! :D

Other thing is hopefully judge won't look at beagie in handling ring :)  And you don't have to show her in breed....

I really wish I could help out but I have Gundogs and I have not entered. Exactly the same thing happened to me about 15 (???!!!) years ago - was it really that long ago, so I can really sympathise with your daughter. I hope she finds a dog though and GOOD LUCK!!

Well she is a 100 times better today much more her normal self so if any of you believe in god please pray she is back to normal by Saturday galastop is a wonderful thing.  It is nice to have my lovely soft little beagie back I didnt like the fierce version :) But if anyone has a sub we might still need one as a back up.

Charlotte is also quite proud today as she actually got to handle Tigger and came third in a strong YKC class.

That's good news paws crossed here for her

S*d no one from here is going on hound day :( but it sounds like she may ok

If she's ever entered on toy day let me know & if we are going she can take one of mine in if we are entered & if she's been really bad it will be JD ;)
- By ice_queen Date 04.09.05 17:25 UTC
All fingers crossed her too.  I know what it's like to be a handler so keen to go in a class, although always been lucky and taken dog I've been enterd with my brother has had a couple of bad luck spells! Worse I have had (and do have this year) is an out of coat dog!!!!!!! He does look pretty stupid!!!!
- By thomas-the-spot [gb] Date 04.09.05 17:36 UTC
Just looked up the results and it was Fiona who won the YKC stakes so well done to her the poodle looked magnificent whereas my little ratbag was her usual annoying self.
- By ice_queen Date 04.09.05 17:43 UTC
Yes fiona's over the moon with her win!  Her poodle (Foster) has this thing about him, even when he stands around in the house ungroomed he shout's something and is eye catching!

Sure fiona will be on CD bragging when she get's a chance! ;)

I would be if it was Charlotte.  We had got a RCC off the judge two weeks ago and he loves Tigger so tell her it was a very good win.  Mind you he did say to Charlotte that he assumed she was not her normal handler and she was being a total cow but then that is dalmatians for you as you will appreciate having handled pebbles. ;)  I shouldnt say this but there was another dalmatian in the ring whos dad told her she should walk that class and she got tossed it is not often I feel like saying good but I was very happy.
- By ice_queen Date 04.09.05 18:02 UTC
Sorry couldn't read what you were not supposed to say ;)

Will let Fee know she beat a quality dally! ;)

I can understand how dallies are, the worst was not being able to shadow because if I touched the tail pebbles would turn around....They also have a mind of their own, anyone handling a dalmation who isn't it's normal handler I do respect!  :D

Hmmm now when's it my turn to win something....well they say determination is the key!!!!!! :D LOL

Well done!
- By thomas-the-spot [gb] Date 04.09.05 18:09 UTC
What I was trying to say I  dont think saying that you were pleased a dog got tossed is very nice but she more or less told Charlotte her dog would beat ours.  :)

I am afraid dallies and junior handling do not make good bed partners.  Tigger does exactly what you describe which is why bought Charlotte the beagle.  I also personally think that dallies do not like swapping owners except Thomas who is a total git and couldnt be trusted with anyone other than a strong very alert adult !!!!

i recently met a lot of beagle owners at a rally on saturday, do you want me to make some enquiries to wether any of these need an extra handler as quite a few had pups and more than one dog?
- By thomas-the-spot [gb] Date 05.09.05 04:36 UTC
Thanks Stann but I am sure Lucky is going to be fine now her hormones are back to normal.  Who got the best puppy in the match?  A friend of mine was judging and we would loved to have gone but with madam being a nightmare we couldnt get to go.
- By bertbeagle [gb] Date 05.09.05 08:28 UTC
Hi Stann,

I think I meet you at the Beagle Club Rally, is your boy 7 months old and from the Redcap ( I think) kennels?

I have a 4 year Tri boy called Bert, I think I was talking to you at the begining and you are from Plymouth?.

Sorry, I hope I have the right people!

Thomas-the-spot the Roger and Maureen from Julemark did very well on Saturday and their Tan & White bitch Maddie won the Puppy romp and their beautiful Tri bitch Hilde won the Puppy class. Shame you couldn't come it was a lovely day and so many Beagles!
- By stann [gb] Date 05.09.05 09:23 UTC
Yep that was us, Im really sorry but cant remember which lady you are as we spoke to so many people. You will have to remind me. Those pups were gorgeous, they dog one was overheated and i leant them merlins crate in the shade and he weed all over it, bless. I told roger i should be allowed to take one home for that. Mind you i would have had a tough time deciding which one. Are you the lady with the camera who took some photos of Merlin and Monty rolling around playing? Do you just have the one dog?
- By bertbeagle [gb] Date 05.09.05 10:05 UTC
Yeah that's us! I was the one with the camera, hopefully the photo's will come out nicely I'm going to have them printed today! We just have the one Beagle "Bert" would love another but unfortunatley have a one dog rule where we live :(  I could have easliy taken home so many of the puppies on Saturday they were all so cute!
- By stann [gb] Date 05.09.05 23:18 UTC
if you could email thm that would be fab.
- By STARRYEYES Date 04.09.05 18:35 UTC
know what you mean about the coat my eldest Beardies coat is in between the 2-3yrs  stage and she looks a mess no matter what I do!
- By bertbeagle [gb] Date 05.09.05 14:34 UTC
I was going to Richmond on the Saturday just to watch the Hounds mostly Beagles but was going without my boy as I didn't enter him.
You are more than welcome to use my boy "Bert" and he's a Beagle and very easy to handle, the only thing is he's not entered in the show and I don't know if that is going to be a problem as I don't know what the rules are.
Just let me know as we will be around on the day and I would be happy to take him along for your daughter to handle.
- By thomas-the-spot [gb] Date 05.09.05 15:55 UTC
Thank you so much for your kind offer we could have pretended he was our beagle as they dont check the sex ;)  Thankfully some kind lady named Margeret has offered me one of her beagles in a emergency so all is settled.  I am just amazed that a phantom pregnancy can turn a otherwise placid and loveable beagle into such a evil demon.  Come over and say hallo if you do go.  My daughter will be in a black suit.
